Alabama's superb special teams play often gets lost in the shuffle due to the Tide's incredible offense and defense, but if you want to get a glimpse of the future stars for Alabama's defense, you can look no further than its kickoff coverage.
Mack Wilson, a five-star freshman and the No. 15 player in the nation last year, is a future star at linebacker for the Tide. For now, he's doing his damage on kick coverage, making his presence known with a massive hit on Texas A&M's Speedy Noil during a kickoff return on Saturday.
The wide angle showed how violent the hit was, but the close up of the hit showed Wilson leading with the crown of his helmet into Noil's helmet. There was not a flag thrown on the initial play and the hit was not reviewed for targeting.
The SEC told the CBS broadcast that it wasn't reviewed because Noil was not a defenseless player, but the rule also cites any hit with the crown of the helmet to the other player's helmet whether defenseless or not.
