No. 17 Colorado just keeps marching through its conference schedule, and a banged-up Utah team is on its way to Boulder. The Buffaloes can take another step toward the Big 12 Championship, and Travis Hunter can strengthen his Heisman Trophy case.
For much of last weekend's game against Texas Tech, Colorado found itself in a battle, but it was eventually able to pull away for a 41-27 win. Shedeur Sanders was dealing from the pocket, throwing for 291 yards and three touchdowns. As usual, Hunter was on the receiving end of a lot of those throws. He finished the day with 99 yards and a score on nine catches.
Defensively, the Buffs really got after Red Raiders quarterback Behren Morton, sacking him seven times and intercepting him once.
That probably doesn't bode well for the Utes, who are extremely thin at quarterback. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham announced that Brandon Rose, last week's starter against BYU, is out for the season with a leg injury. That means the Utes will once again turn to Isaac Wilson, who began the season as Cam Rising's backup.
Wilson has really struggled throughout the 2024 campaign, completing just 59.5% of his passes for 1,200 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. That means the Utah defense will likely have to make some big plays if the Utes want to upset the Buffaloes.
