The Arch Manning show will continue for at least one more week as No. 1 Texas hosts ULM on Saturday night. Manning will get his first career start in place of the injured quarterback Quinn Ewers after lighting up UTSA last weekend.
Ewers left the Longhorns' blowout of the Roadrunners with an abdominal injury, and Manning put up gaudy numbers in relief. The redshirt freshman completed nine of his 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns, and he showed off his wheels. Manning also rushed three times for 53 yards and a score.
That win pushed Texas to 3-0, and it leapfrogged Georgia for the top spot in the AP Top 25 poll this week. That ranking probably isn't in much jeopardy against the Warhawks, but this could serve as a nice tune-up for the Longhorns' SEC debut against Mississippi State next weekend.
ULM is also off to a perfect start this season after blasting UAB, 32-6, on Sept. 7. Former Oklahoma quarterback General Booty hasn't been asked to do much yet, but he has totaled 191 yards and a touchdown on 19-of-30 passing. UL-Monroe has really leaned on running back Ahmad Hardy, who has turned 33 carries into 161 yards and a pair of scores.
