Penn State has been perfect through the first half of its season, but the next two weeks will be critical for the third-ranked Nittany Lions. This week, Penn State travels up to Madison for what should be a difficult Big Ten road game against Wisconsin.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a bye week, and it was well-earned after a dramatic overtime win against USC on Oct. 12. Penn State trailed by 14 points at halftime in that one, but that's when quarterback Drew Allar and receiver Tyler Warren took over. Allar threw for 391 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Warren caught a whopping 17 passes for 224 yards and a score.
Allar did turn the ball over three times, so he will have to be much cleaner in a very hostile Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday night. If he can do that and keep his connection with Warren going, Penn State should be able to put some points on the board.
On the other sideline, Wisconsin intends on ending Penn State's perfect season, and it has won three straight games. In the absence of starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, the Badgers' defense has stepped up. Last weekend, that side of the ball held Northwestern to three points and 209 yards of total offense.
Offensively, Wisconsin will continue to lean on its running game after Tawee Walker went for 126 yards against the Wildcats.
