The Bengals waived Shelton (hand) after reaching an injury settlement.
Shelton was a four-year starter at Wisconsin, making 31 tackles, four interceptions and 12 pass breakups in his senior season. He'll likely look for a practice squad role once he's healthy in late September.

Bengals' Sojourn Shelton: Sports cast on hand Sunday
Shelton was wearing a cast on his right hand at Sunday's practice, Jim Owczarski of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Shelton was forced to leave Saturday's session early, and it now looks like the hand injury the cornerback sustained will keep him out for a period of time. Shelton spent most of 2017 on the Bengals' practice squad.
