Nate Davis: Gets cut loose
Davis was waived by the Bears on Wednesday.
Davis' time in Chicago will come to an end halfway through his current three-year, $30 million contract. According to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Charlotte product called in with a surprise back injury Sunday morning, which was why he was a late scratch for the game against New England. Davis has missed several weeks for a multitude of reasons over the last 1.5 seasons, and ultimately only started 13 games for the Bears since signing with them last offseason.

Bears' Nate Davis: Late scratch for Week 10
Davis has been ruled out for Sunday's game against New England with a back injury.
He wasn't on the Bears' Week 10 injury report, so the back issue may have cropped up following Friday's practice. Davis started at right guard in the Bears' first two games of the season, but Matt Pryor has since supplanted Davis in the lineup.

Bears' Nate Davis: Healthy inactive Sunday
Davis (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
In the second season of the three-year, $30 million deal he signed with the Bears in March 2023, Davis lost his starting role at right guard to Matt Pryor earlier this season and no longer looks to be viewed as the first guard off the bench. Instead, Bill Murray will be the Bears' choice to step in at left guard or right guard if either Teven Jenkins or Pryor is forced to exit Sunday's contest at any point.

Bears' Nate Davis: Active but may not start
Davis (groin) is active for Sunday's game against Indianapolis.
Davis aggravated his groin injury during Wednesday's practice, which limited him in Thursday's session and caused him to be a DNP on Friday. He'll be active for Sunday's game, though he could operate in a depth role and cede the starting right guard spot to Matt Pryor, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.

Davis (undisclosed) departed from Saturday's practice early due to an injury, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.

Injuries were an issue for the offensive lineman last season, as he played in only 11 games due to separate ankle and foot issues. The severity of his current issue isn't yet certain, but if he's able to recover relatively quickly, Davis is expected to open the regular season as Chicago's starting right guard.
