Draft Scouting Report
Romello Brinson is a tall, long-limbed wide receiver who became a focal point of SMU's explosive passing attack. He is a smooth long-strider who can quickly close the cushion on defenders to threaten them deep or create separation on intermediate breaks. While he possesses a impressive catch radius and natural body control, his thin frame and lack of functional strength can sometimes make him vulnerable to physical coverage.
- 2025: 638 receiving yards (second on team)
- 2023: Transferred from Miami (FL) to SMU
- Large catch radius with soft, reliable hands in all situations.
- Explosive acceleration out of breaks to create instant separation.
- Excellent body control and ability to track deep vertical passes.
- Very thin frame that can be overwhelmed by physical defenders.
- Lacks the play strength to consistently win at the catch point.
- Limited availability in 2024 due to a significant undisclosed injury.
