Draft Scouting Report
Pro Comparison: Michael Hoomanawanui
Summary
Dallen Bentley is one of the more intriguing tight ends in the class. He’s one of the few who pairs true in-line size with an NFL-caliber athletic profile. You don’t often see collegiate tight ends targeted 40-plus yards downfield the way Bentley was multiple times last season. What makes it even more compelling is how little he’s played. After one year at Snow Community College in 2022, Bentley totaled just 20 receiving yards across his first two seasons at Utah before erupting for 620 last fall. If that trajectory continues, he could rise quickly in this class.
About
- 2025: John Mackey Award semifinalist
- 2025: Tied for sixth among FBS TE in receiving yards (620), receiving TD (6) and receptions (48)
Strengths
- Carries mass in his lower half and knows how to use it in the run game.
- Whippy hips to present a target on underneath routes.
- Adjusts to passes outside his frame while on the move.
Weaknesses
- Late bloomer with only one year of FBS production.
- Lacks violence as a run blocker; more of a positional blocker.
- Doesn’t consistently use his size to his advantage as a receiver.
