Carter was sidelined for the Bills' last five games after undergoing surgery on his wrist in late October. He was able to fully participate in practice all week, and while he's still considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, his activation off IR indicates he should be able to suit up. In the seven regular-season games prior to his injury, Carter logged nine tackles (eight solo) and one pass defense.

He was designated to return Wednesday and logged a trio of full practices this week, but the rookie defensive tackle isn't quite ready to return to action. Bills' DeWayne Carter: Questionable for Week 13
Carter (wrist) is questionable to play against the 49ers on Sunday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
Carter was placed on injured reserve Oct. 25 due to a wrist injury. He has been sidelined for the Bills' last four regular-season games, and he has a good chance at being activated before the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline Saturday after logging full practices all week. If he does return, Carter will serve in a rotational role at defensive tackle Sunday behind DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver.

Bills' DeWayne Carter: Designated for return
The Bills designated Carter (wrist) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
A third-round pick at No. 95 overall out of Duke in the 2024 NFL Draft, Carter logged 183 defensive snaps and another 19 on special teams across the first seven games of the season. He's missed the last four contests while on injured reserve. Wednesday's move officially opened the rookie's 21-day practice window.

Bills' DeWayne Carter: Lands on IR with wrist injury
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Friday that Carter was placed on injured reserve and will undergo wrist surgery, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
The rookie third-round pick was limited in practice all week due to a wrist injury he likely picked up during the Bills' Week 7 win over the Titans, during which he registered three solo tackles across 30 defensive snaps. A stint on injured reserve means Carter will be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season contests, making Week 13 against the 49ers on Sunday, Dec. 1 the earliest he could return. While Carter is sidelined, Austin Johnson and Zion Logue will serve as the Bills' backup defensive tackles behind DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver.

Bills' DeWayne Carter: Lands with Buffalo
The Bills selected Carter in the third round of the NFL Draft, 95th overall.
Buffalo needed a youth infusion in the middle of the defense coming into the draft, and Carter provides that. A Duke product, Carter was a decorated player during his time in Durham, earning third-, second-, and first-team All-ACC honors. He is a squat defensive tackle that is hard to move at 6-foot-2 and 302 pounds who fires off the ball. His most disruptive season came in 2022, when he had 11.0 tackles for loss, including 5.5 sacks. and while his statistics fell off a bit in 2023, he still put together a strong season. He projects to be the heir apparent to DaQuan Jones alongside Ed Oliver.
