Burns (knee) was waived from injured reserve after reaching an injury settlement with the Bears on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Burns suffered a knee injury in the Bears' preseason opener against the Dolphins, ultimately being placed on injured reserve Aug. 13. The safety will now be eligible to play elsewhere in 2025 if he can prove healthy enough.

The Bears waived Burns (knee) with an injury designation Tuesday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Burns suffered a knee injury during Sunday's preseason game against the Dolphins. He'll now go on waivers, but if another team doesn't claim him, Burns will revert to the Bears' injured list, which will force him to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Chicago.

Bears' Major Burns: Won't return Sunday
Burns has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's preseason game against the Dolphins due to a knee injury, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Burns will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but it could put him in jeopardy of missing the Bears' next preseason game against the Bills on Sunday, Aug. 17. He signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent in May and is competing for a depth spot in the secondary.
