Lamb was designated for assignment by the Angels on Friday.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Victor Mederos, who joins the Angels' bullpen in a corresponding transaction. Lamb was optioned to Triple-A in the middle of May, and the veteran utility player will now hit the waiver wire.
