Garcia earned a save against Oakland on Sunday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Angels manager Ron Washington said before the game Sunday that Garcia would step into the closer role after Carlos Estevez was traded to Philadelphia on Saturday, and the skipper held true to this word when he brought Garcia into the contest with Los Angeles up by two runs in the top of the ninth inning. The veteran reliever did his part to reward his manager's confidence, needing just nine pitches to set the side down in order. The save was Garcia's career-high fourth of the campaign, and he's added 12 holds along with a 3.71 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB over 43.2 frames overall.
