The Angels selected Kavadas' contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Acquired from the Red Sox at the trade deadline in the Luis Garcia deal, Kavadas has slashed .264/.400/.521 with 19 home runs over 94 games at the Triple-A level in 2024. He's a three true outcomes hitter with 27 homers, a 33.7 percent strikeout rate and a 17 percent walk rate across 570 plate appearances at Triple-A over the last two seasons. With Willie Calhoun having been designated for assignment, Kavadas appears likely to soak up lots of playing time at designated hitter versus right-handed pitching.
