Manager Ron Washington said Saturday that Schanuel is dealing with a back injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Washington added that Schanuel will sit out Saturday and Sunday in order to recover, and the 22-year-old will return to the lineup Tuesday, assuming his back is feeling better by then. Niko Kavadas will take over as the Angels' first baseman while Schanuel is out.
