Castro underwent surgery last week to repair the meniscus in his left knee and will miss the rest of the 2022 season, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Astros transferred him on the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Castro sustained the injury in late June and didn't demonstrate enough progress over the past few weeks to avoid surgery. His season-ending injury may have played a small part in the Astros' decision to acquire Christian Vazquez from Boston on Monday. The transaction will clear a spot on the 40-man roster.
