Alvarez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Red Sox with a left index finger injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
He injured his finger in a door at his home Tuesday. Manager Dusty Baker said he hopes to have Alvarez back in the lineup Wednesday. Yainer Diaz was added to the starting nine in his place.
