Oakland selected Brooks' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.
After designating Brooks for assignment June 2, the Athletics outrighted him to Las Vegas two days later upon clearing waivers. He's gone 1-1 in his two starts since returning to Triple-A, allowing five runs (three earned) on 11 hits and one walk while striking out eight over nine innings. Though he'll rejoin the big club ahead of Sunday's game against the Twins, Brooks will likely be relegated to a mop-up role out of the bullpen after turning in a 5.82 ERA in his four starts with Oakland earlier this season.
