The Athletics designated O'Loughlin for assignment Wednesday.
The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Kyle Muller, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday. O'Loughlin, 24, holds a 4.66 ERA in four appearances with the Athletics this season and a 6.19 ERA and 73:32 K:BB over 68.1 innings with Las Vegas.
