Moreland is out of the lineup for the third time in four games Wednesday versus the White Sox, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Moreland had a brief window of playing time reopen last week when Josh Harrison (quadriceps) and Elvis Andrus (personal) missed a few games, but both players have since recaptured everyday roles in the middle infield. Jed Lowrie will serve as the Athletics' designated hitter Wednesday and is likely to see most of the reps against right-handed pitching moving forward, leaving Moreland will no path to steady at-bats while Oakland is nearly at full strength.
