Nevin gave the A's some life in the ninth inning with an opposite-field blast off Josh Hader, cutting Houston's lead to 6-3. It's Nevin's first home run since July 6 -- he'd gone just 9-for-62 (.145) with a .419 OPS in 26 games coming into Thursday. The 27-year-old Nevin is slashing .196/.287/.329 through 251 plate appearances this season with seven homers, 18 RBI and 20 runs scored while being limited to the occasional start against left-handed pitching.
