Yelich has elected Thursday to rest and rehab his back injury, delaying a potential surgery until the offseason, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Rosenthal says offseason surgery for Yelich is viewed as a "strong possibility," but the three-time All-Star will put off the operation for now as he works to return to the field for the Brewers down the stretch. Yelich aggravated the recurring back injury Tuesday and landed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. It's not clear yet how long he might be sidelined.
