Ray was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Wednesday.
Ray has been shuffled between the major-league roster and the alternate training site several times in the last few days, and he'll return to alternate camp as part of a transaction in which right-hander Zack Godley's contract was selected by Milwaukee. Ray has appeared in just one game during his time in the majors and went 0-for-2 with a walk, one run and a strikeout.
