Montas (7-10) picked up the win over the Giants on Thursday, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless frames while striking out eight.
Montas stifled San Francisco's lineup, allowing just two batters to reach second base during his six innings on the mound. The right-hander generated 19 swings and misses en route to posting eight or more strikeouts for only the third time this season. It also marked Montas' second consecutive quality start to open the month, and he now carries a very strong 18:5 K:BB September to go along with a 2.25 ERA.
