Pomeranz will serve as the Cubs' opening pitcher for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Pomeranz fared well as an opener during his last appearance Saturday, during which he tossed a perfect first inning and recorded a strikeout. He'll now aim to replicate his success while working in front of Colin Rea, who is expected to follow Pomeranz in bulk relief.
