Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Reds.
Chicago fell 20-5, so Hoerner's third home run of the season was of little consequence. It's still good to see the shortstop go deep in his second game back from the injured list after missing two weeks with a right ankle sprain. The 25-year-old is expected to be the primary shortstop moving forward for the 18-26 Cubs, with the veteran Andrelton Simmons working in more of a reserve role.
