Kela (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Kela underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2021, so he isn't expected to be ready to pitch until sometime in the middle of the 2022 campaign. However, he'll be a strong candidate to join the major-league bullpen once he's healthy. The right-hander has battled injuries in each of the last two seasons but posted a 2.12 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 29.2 innings across 32 relief appearances with the Pirates in 2019.
