Mariners closer Fernando Rodney wasn't at his best Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on three hits, but he managed to pick up his 40th save anyway, striking out two in his team's 6-5 win over the A's.
Rodney struck out the first two batters he faced but then surrendered three straight doubles to put the potential tying run at second base with two outs. He was able to coax a ground ball to the shortstop to end the game. Rodney owns a 2.56 ERA and 64:23 K:BB ratio in 56 1/3 innings. He's the second AL closer to 40 saves this season.
