Mariners closer Fernando Rodney picked up his 38th save Sunday, giving up one hit and two walks but recording three strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning to finish off his team's 8-6 win over the Red Sox.

Rodney walked a man with first base open twice after fielder's indifference and a double steal, but he stranded the bases loaded after striking out his third batter of the inning. He owns a 2.19 ERA and 62:22 K:BB ratio in 53 1/3 innings.
