Tomlinson was recalled by the Giants on Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic Bay Area reports.

Tomlinson will jump straight into the starting lineup, batting eighth and playing third base against the Rockies. In 47 games with the Giants earlier this season, he hit a disappointing .216/.281/.270. Pierce Johnson was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
