Ramirez was designated for assignment Sunday, NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic reports.
Ramirez had appeared in nine games out of the Giants' bullpen to begin the season but was generally ineffective, posting a 13.06 ERA (3.48 FIP) over 10.1 innings pitched. In a corresponding move, the team promoted Bryan Morris from Triple-A Sacramento.
