Mariners pitcher James Paxton could begin throwing this week, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Paxton is dealing with a back injury, but has been making progress. "Paxton has started to do a lot of exercises in the swimming pool," trainer Rick Griffin said. "He’s doing exercises specifically for his strain." Paxton will be able to begin light throwing based on whether his examination goes well this week.
