The Mets released Oliva on Saturday.
The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by New York on Thursday and will now part ways with the organization after clearing waivers. The Mets claimed Oliva off waivers from the Giants in late June, and he appeared in four games for Triple-A Syracuse before being DFA'd. He played in seven games for San Francisco early in the season before being sidelined due to a hamate bone fracture in mid-April.
