Mariners starter James Paxton, who suffered a strained tendon on the middle finger of his pitching hand, was placed on a two-week shutdown of all throwing activities, per the Tacoma News-Tribune.

Even if Paxton is given the green light after two weeks, it would likely take another two-to-three weeks for him to go through the full rehab process.

"I'm trying to stay positive," Paxton said. "I've just got to do my best to let it rest and get back as soon as possible."

Paxton is 3-3 with a 3.70 ERA in 10 starts this season.
