Mariners pitcher James Paxton reported no issues after throwing two innings during a simulated game Tuesday, reports MLB.com.
"It felt great," he said. "I just wanted to get the ball down, execute a few pitches and overall have no pain at all, which is what I had. So that was great."
Paxton was able to throw 30 pitches Tuesday and he will throw a bullpen session Thursday before determining if he can begin his rehab assignment. A finger injury has kept him out since late May.
"Two innings is like the beginning of Spring Training, but I feel better than I did in spring," he said. "My stuff is sharper, my pitches are better, I feel like I'm closer pitch-wise to the end of Spring Training."
