Rivera will start at third base and bat fifth in Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Rivera has operated as a short-side platoon player for much of his time in the majors this season, but he started the first two games of the series against right-handed pitchers and will remain in the lineup for the finale while southpaw Max Fried toes the rubber for Atlanta. The uptick in playing time against right-handed pitching looks to be a byproduct of the Marlins shipping Josh Bell to the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline, with the deal paving the way for Jake Burger to log more time at first base and designated hitter while Rivera gets more reps at third base.
