  • Marlins' Owen Caissie: Belts 11th homer

Caissie went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the A's.

The Marlins took advantage of a trip to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento by launching five homers on the night, including Caissie's 390-foot shot the other way to left-center field in the ninth inning off Mason Barnett. Five of Caissie's 11 homers on the season have come in his last 15 games, a stretch in which he's slashing an impressive .357/.396/.762 with 10 runs and 14 RBI.

  • Marlins' Jakob Marsee: Swats fifth homer

Marsee went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's win over the A's.

The Marlins took advantage of a trip to Sutter Health Park in Sacramento by launching five homers on the night, including Marsee's shot off Jack Perkins in the first inning. Marsee snapped a 12-game power drought with the blast, and since the beginning of June he's managed a meager .170/.291/.277 slash line with two of his five long balls on the season, along with four steals, six RBI and 11 runs in 28 contests.

  • Marlins' Heriberto Hernandez: Smacks three-run shot

Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's win over the A's.

Hernandez launched his first homer since June 23 with a three-run shot in the top of the first inning to give the Marlins a five-run lead. He's up to nine homers on the year, with seven of those coming since the beginning of June -- a stretch in which he's hitting .250 with an .867 OPS.

  • Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Goes yard twice

Stowers went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three total RBI and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Athletics.

Stowers launched a solo blast in the top of the sixth inning and later added a two-run shot in the eighth, giving him 10 on the year. This was Stowers' third multi-hit performance over his last seven games, hitting .379 with a 1.179 OPS over that stretch. It also snapped a 10-game homer drought for Stowers, with his previous long ball coming against the Giants on June 21.

  • Marlins' Lake Bachar: Earns win in relief

Bachar (1-0) earned the win Friday against the A's after tossing two perfect innings, striking out one.

Bachar recorded his second hold of the season and his first win after needing just 24 pitches (14 strikes) to record six outs and preserve the Marlins' lead. The righty has given up just three runs across 11 appearances (18.1 innings) since the beginning of June, posting a 1.47 ERA and 0.87 WHIP over that span.

  • Marlins' Tyler Phillips: Lasts 3.1 innings in no-decision

Phillips didn't factor into the decision Friday against the A's after allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out two.

Phillips allowed just two baserunners in the first two innings, but he gave up a two-run homer to Nick Kurtz in the third and three more runs in the fourth before being lifted. This was a step back for the 28-year-old right-hander, who had given up two or fewer runs while pitching at least six frames in his previous two appearances. Phillips, who owns a 5.93 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in six outings since the beginning of June, will look to bounce back in his next start, which should come against the Mariners at home.

  • Marlins' Javier Sanoja: Getting breather Friday

Sanoja isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Sanoja will rest his legs Friday after going 9-for-16 with a homer, eight RBI and four runs scored during Miami's four-game series against the Rockies. His absence will allow Leo Jimenez to start at third base and bat ninth.

  • Marlins' Joe Mack: Sitting Friday

Mack isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Mack will get a chance to rest during Friday's series opener after going 3-for-12 with two homers and four RBI during Miami's four-game set in Colorado. Liam Hicks will start behind the plate with Mack on the bench, moving Owen Caissie into the DH spot and allowing Heriberto Hernandez to start in the outfield.

  • Marlins' William Kempner: Recalled from Triple-A

The Marlins recalled Kempner from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Kempner was sent down last month despite logging nine scoreless innings with a 10:2 K:BB in six relief appearances. The 25-year-old will likely fill a middle relief role, but his stay in the majors could be brief as the Marlins will need a spot next week for a fifth starter, expected to be Janson Junk (shin).

  • Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Optioned to Jacksonville

The Marlins optioned Gusto to Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Gusto made five starts for Miami, collecting a 5.06 ERA and 18:10 K:BB over 21.1 innings. With Gusto returning to Jacksonville, Janson Junk (shin) appears set to rejoin the Marlins' rotation next week.

  • Marlins' Otto Lopez: Two more XBH in Thursday's loss

Lopez went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in Thursday's loss to the Rockies.

The breakout shortstop wraps up an impressive trip to Coors Field having gone 6-for-14 over three games at altitude with four extra-base hits (two double, a triple and a homer). Lopez continues to lead the majors in batting average at .336, 10 points up on Luis Arraez and Yandy Diaz, and he's been even more productive since the beginning of June, delivering a .348/.383/.563 slash line with three home runs, six steals, 12 RBI and 23 RBI in 27 contests.

  • Marlins' Aiva Arquette: On shelf with thumb injury

Arquette was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Pensacola on Tuesday due to a thumb injury, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old prospect hasn't played since June 26, and Arquette is expected to miss around six weeks with the injury. The seventh overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft had just begun to find his footing after a late-May promotion from High-A, homering five times in his last 12 games for Pensacola while producing a .250/.291/.558 slash line with a 14.5 percent strikeout rate.

  • Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Goes three innings vs. Rockies

Gusto did not factor into the decision Thursday against Colorado, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings.

After he was handed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Gusto gave up a solo home run to Mickey Moniak in the bottom half of the frame before the Rockies tacked on two more runs in the third. Gusto has seen a limited workload since joining the Marlins rotation -- he's yet to make it through five frames in any of his six starts. Overall, the right-hander sports a 5.55 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB across 24.1 innings.

  • Marlins' Keyner Benitez: Done for season with arm injury

Single-A Jupiter placed Benitez on the injured list May 9, and the left-hander is expected to miss the rest of the season due to an arm injury, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.

Benitez had gotten off to a stellar start this season for Jupiter, generating a 2.79 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 19.1 innings through five starts. During his final appearance May 7, Benitez was working on a no-hitter midway through the fourth inning before he was abruptly pulled from the start after getting checked out on the mound by a trainer, per FishOnFirst.com. Benitez didn't look to be in any major discomfort at the time he was removed from the game, but the Marlins determined days later that he would need to be shut down. Details regarding Benitez's injury remain scarce nearly two months later, but the fact that he's been shut down for the season could point to the 20-year-old lefty requiring elbow or shoulder surgery.

  • Marlins' Nate Payne: Having breakout campaign

Payne has posted a 3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 95:22 K:BB over 68.2 innings this season between Single-A Jupiter and High-A Beloit.

An 18th-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of a Pennsylvania high school, Payne gave up an offer from George Mason to start his pro career early, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com, and the decision seems to be paying off. While the 20-year-old southpaw sits in the low 90s with his fastball, his velocity has crept up since he was drafted and the pitch comes with significant ride that allows him to work up in the zone. He then turns to a potentially plus curveball and slider for his whiffs. Payne likely still profiles as a back-of-the-rotation option in the majors at best unless he can add more juice to his fastball and improve his changeup, but his development so far has been impressive.

  • Marlins' Liam Hicks: Two more hits in Wednesday's loss

Hicks went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Making his second straight start at first base since coming off the IL, Hicks has banged out two hits and scored a run in each game since recovering from a lower-back strain. The 27-year-old's breakout campaign doesn't appear to be slowing down -- over 19 contests since the beginning of June, Hicks has produced a .324/.405/.471 slash line with five extra-base hits, including two homers, eight RBI and 15 runs.
