Cooper was scratched from the Sunday's lineup against Colorado due to an illness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Cooper was penciled in as Miami's designated hitter Sunday but will instead sit out due to an ailment. The 32-year-old will have Monday's team off day to rest up before the Marlins open a two-game set Tuesday against Tampa Bay.
