Fortes went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-2 loss against the Mets.
Fortes turned a one-run deficit into a one-run lead with his swing of the bat in the second inning, but that was all the offense the Marlins would be able to muster. It was his second consecutive start at catcher after Jacob Stallings got the Opening Day nod behind the plate. Fortes showed considerable offensive upside for a catcher last season with nine home runs and five steals in just 240 plate appearances.
