Martin Perez, recovering from Tommy John surgery last May, has a two-a-day scheduled to open spring training with the Rangers.
Perez will have two throwing sessions, separated by a five-minute break. In the first, he'll throw 25 times. Then he'll throw 15 times at a distance of 120 feet.
Ron Matejko of ESPN Dallas reported the details of Perez's progress.
"We are going to work this weekend and continue to throw," Perez said. "Then next week we'll go to the bullpen and throw off flat ground for a week, and the following week in the bullpen I'll throw off the half mound."
Perez expects to return by midseason.
