  • Rangers' Mason McConnaughey: Back in action after TJ surgery

McConnaughey (elbow) has produced a 1.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 7:2 K:BB in 6.2 innings through his first three appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

The No. 115 overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, McConnaughey didn't make his professional debut until June 26 of this year while he completed his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent the previous spring. The 22-year-old righty has looked sharp thus far in the ACL and could move up to Single-A Hickory shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Rangers' Brody Bumila: Elbow surgery on tap

Bumila is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left elbow later this week and is expected to miss the entire 2026 season, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Bumila already underwent an internal brace procedure in May 2025 before suffering a setback with his elbow during the spring that will ultimately necessitate a second operation, but that didn't deter the Rangers from selecting the 18-year-old lefty in the third round of the 2026 First-Year Player Draft. Checking in at 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, Bumila boasts a power arsenal to match his towering frame, as his fastball touched 101 mph this spring before he was shut down with the elbow injury. Until Bumila meets with Dr. Keith Meister later this week, it won't be known whether the southpaw will require another internal brace procedure or Tommy John surgery. Either way, the Rangers won't be counting on Bumila to make his pro debut until the 2028 season.

  • Rangers' Cody Freeman: Requires surgery for herniated disc

Freeman underwent surgery June 29 to repair a herniated disc in his neck, MLB.com reports.

At the time surgery was performed, Freeman was expected to rest for about three weeks before resuming baseball activities, so he could be cleared for on-field work when the Rangers reconvene following the All-Star break. Before landing on the injured list June 25, Freeman appeared in just seven games for the Rangers and went 4-for-17 with a 1:5 BB:K and one run.

  • Rangers' Jordan Montgomery: Looking sharp on rehab assignment

Montgomery (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks across four innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock.

Montgomery spotted 35 of his 52 pitches for strikes and averaged 90.1 mph with his sinker, which was down 1.7 ticks from his average through his first five rehab outings. The velocity downturn isn't fully unexpected as Montgomery works deeper into his rehab starts, and his results through three outings with Round Rock and two with Double-A Frisco have been impressive overall (2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 11:0 K:BB in 12 innings). The veteran southpaw -- who is working his way back from the hybrid UCL reconstruction surgery he underwent in March 2025 -- will likely make one final rehab start next weekend before the Rangers bring him back from the 60-day injured list.

  • Rangers' Cody Bradford: Inefficient in rehab start

Bradford (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one run on no hits and two walks in a one-inning rehab start with Double-A Frisco on Sunday.

Bradford made his first appearance since April 2, as he was previously pulled off a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock after one start when he experienced a setback in his recovery from his June 2025 internal brace procedure. The southpaw needed 21 pitches to record his three outs and threw just seven strikes, with the lack of control not especially surprising coming off a lengthy layoff from game action. The Rangers are expected to allow Bradford to get stretched out for a starting role during his rehab assignment, but he'll need to improve his efficiency as he builds up his innings volume in his subsequent minor-league outings in order to stake a claim to a spot in the big-league rotation once his 30-day rehab window comes to a close.

  • Rangers' Brandon Nimmo: Walk-off knock Sunday

Nimmo went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.

Nimmo's three hits were all singles, and two of them drove in runs. His last of the game was a walk-off knock against Josh Hader. Since recovering from a brief absence due to a shoulder injury, Nimmo has gone 8-for-29 (.276) with five RBI over eight games. He's batting .263 with a .756 OPS, nine home runs, 34 RBI, 38 runs scored, 21 doubles, three triples and four stolen bases over 90 contests this season.

  • Rangers' Kyle Higashioka: Hits game-tying homer

Higashioka went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Astros.

Higashioka went yard in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-5 a half-inning after the Astros had pulled ahead. Higashioka has started three of the last four games behind the dish for the Rangers, perhaps suggesting he's clawing back some playing time from Elias Diaz. Higashioka is batting .220 with a .670 OPS, seven homers, 17 RBI, 19 runs scored, three doubles and no stolen bases over 177 plate appearances.

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Decent in start on short rest

Gore allowed one run on two hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros.

Jacob deGrom was scratched due to a glute injury, and Gore stepped up to pitch on short rest. Gore threw 39 of 65 pitches for strikes and limited the damage to a Jose Altuve solo shot in the fourth inning. Gore had given up 12 runs over his previous 10 innings. The southpaw is now at a 4.63 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 115:41 K:BB through 105 innings over 20 starts this season. Expect him to go back to normal rest after the All-Star break, though his effectiveness Sunday in a shorter outing could be something to keep an eye on.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Slips into reserve role

Osuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Osuna will remain on the bench for a third straight game. After filling the strong side of a platoon in the outfield for the better part of the last month, Osuna looks like he'll be stuck in a reserve role after Wyatt Langford returned from the injured list Thursday.

  • Rangers' Elias Diaz: Left out of starting nine

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Diaz will head to the bench for the third time in four games while the Rangers go with Kyle Higashioka behind the dish. Though he appeared to have supplanted Higashioka as the Rangers' preferred catcher while Danny Jansen (forearm) remains on the shelf, Diaz may have faded into a timeshare after going 3-for-19 (.158) with a 0:4 BB:K over his last six starts.

  • Rangers' Emiliano Teodo: Getting big-league look

The Rangers recalled Teodo from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

Teodo will get his first look in the big leagues after producing a 3.76 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 52:35 K:BB across 40.2 innings out of the bullpen at Round Rock this season. He should fill a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the Rangers.

  • Rangers' Chris Martin: Lands on injured list

The Rangers placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder impingement.

It's unclear when Martin sustained the injury, but he's been struggling of late with seven runs allowed in four outings since returning in early July from a prior shoulder issue. The veteran right-hander will be eligible to be reinstated in late July.

  • Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Lone Rangers bright spot in loss

Duran went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

Duran knocked in all three Rangers runs with a solo homer in the fourth inning and a two-run shot in the ninth. The utility man has turned on his power of late, bashing four home runs and collecting seven RBI over his past six games. Duran has been quite valuable for Texas this season, as he's slashing .272/.322/.439 with 10 long balls, 39 runs, 50 RBI and seven stolen bases through 86 contests while playing every position on the field aside from catcher and pitcher.

  • Rangers' Kumar Rocker: Rocked for seven runs in loss

Rocker (2-8) took the loss against Houston on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 5.2 innings.

Rocker gave up the seven runs on a trio of homers, including a grand slam off the bat of LaMonte Wade. That was out of character for the right-hander this season, as he entered Saturday with a 1.0 HR/9 and having yielded no more than two long balls in any outing. The seven earned runs and eight hits allowed were also season-worst marks for Rocker, who has had a very up-and-down campaign. He heads into the All-Star break with a 4.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 80:34 K:BB over 90 innings spanning 18 appearances (16 starts).

  • Rangers' MacKenzie Gore: Starting on short rest Sunday

Gore will serve as the Rangers' starting pitcher against Houston on Sunday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Gore last pitched Wednesday against the Angels, so he'll be working on only three days of rest. Texas manager Skip Schumaker said Saturday that Gore approached him and offered to take the mound in what was otherwise looking like it might be a bullpen game for the team. Gore tossed 90 pitches in his previous start, so he may have his workload monitored Sunday in the Rangers' final contest before the All-Star break. Given that Texas will then have four days off, Gore's start Sunday won't necessarily impact his usual slotting in the rotation.

  • Rangers' Hudson Calhoun: Selected by Texas

The Rangers selected Calhoun with the No. 117 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft

Calhoun made just two starts across his three seasons at Mississippi and was an inconsistent performer, especially across his first two seasons. The right-hander settled in a bit in 2026 with a 4.05 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 67:26 K:BB across 46.2 innings, but his command was still a bit scattershot. His diverse repertoire could give him some viability as a starter, but he'll need to improve his location significantly.

  • Rangers' Brody Bumila: Third-round pick by Texas

The Rangers selected Bumila (elbow) with the No. 89 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.

Bumila, a 6-foot-9, 255-pound prep lefty from Massachusetts, already touches 101 mph with his fastball with great movement and showcases clear front-of-the-rotation upside. He already had internal brace surgery in 2025 but was back to mowing down high school hitters this spring after leading his high school to the state basketball championship. Bumila suffered another elbow injury late this spring that will likely require surgery after he signs. A strong, athletic ox of a man, Bumila repeats his delivery well and has a quality changeup. His upside and risk are as extreme as it gets.
