The Mets have petitioned Major League Baseball to allow McNeil (wrist) to play some rehab games in the Arizona Fall League, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Facing live pitching is the final hurdle McNeil needs to clear before he's ready to return to action, and sending him to the AFL is the best opportunity for that. McNeil appears to be tracking toward a return for the NLCS, should the Mets advance. He's been shelved since early September with a fractured right wrist.
