Williams (wrist) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
For the first time in four months, Williams will appear in a game after a lengthy recovery from right wrist surgery. He had gotten off to a slow start to the season with Double-A Binghamton prior to getting hurt, batting just .179 with four extra-base hits and two stolen bases over 50 plate appearances, though he drew eight walks while striking out just five times. Given the length of his absence, Williams could remain on the rehab assignment through the weekend before potentially returning from Binghamton's 60-day injured list next week.
