Irvin (9-11) yielded seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Cubs.
Irvin fell apart in the second inning, coughing up all seven runs in the disastrous frame. It was capped off by Cody Bellinger's two-run blast. Irvin gave up five or more runs just once in his first 18 starts this season but has done so four times in his last 10 appearances. During that 10-start stretch, he's registered a 6.55 ERA, driving his season ERA up to 4.08 through 161 innings. Irvin's next outing is projected to come in Pittsburgh.
