Ruiz is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Ruiz started the past three games and will receive a maintenance day for Sunday's afternoon contest. The 23-year-old backstop is 17-for-39 with two homers, three doubles, 12 RBI and seven runs in his past 10 games, and he should continue to operate as Washington's primary catcher for the final week of the regular season. Riley Adams will start behind the plate in his place Sunday.
