Mateo was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Nationals due to right hip discomfort, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Mateo came up lame while running out a groundball in the second inning and was removed following a visit from the trainer. The Orioles should provide more on his condition after the game, at which point we could know whether a stint on the injured list might be needed.
