The Orioles announced that Mateo underwent season-ending UCL reconstruction surgery on his left elbow Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Mateo hadn't played since July 23 with a left elbow subluxation before eventually requiring the procedure. He'll finish the 2024 campaign with a .229/.267/.401 slash line to go with five home runs and 13 stolen bases across 68 games. The 29-year-old will enter his final year of arbitration eligibility this offseason and will likely fill a utility role if the Orioles opt to keep him on the roster in 2025.
