Despaigne was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
Despaigne was sent down to the minors in order to make room on the roster for Wade Miley and Steve Pearce, who were acquired by the Orioles just before the trade deadline. Despaigne has struggled in the month of July, allowing 12 earned runs in 16.1 innings (6.61 ERA) and will look to regain his form in Triple-A ball.
