The Padres outrighted Johnson to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
Johnson will stick around in the organization as outfield depth at the Triple-A level after he went unclaimed off waivers when the Padres designated him for assignment over the weekend. Prior to losing his spot on the 40-man roster, the 30-year-old Johnson struggled to produce in his limited opportunities with San Diego, slashing .178/.229/.222 with no home runs, five steals, five runs and two RBI across 49 plate appearances.
