Gomez signed a minor league deal with the Phillies on Monday that includes an invite to spring training.
He played in Korea in 2016, but was apparently itching to get back into a big league organization. His offensive production has been awful in 162 career plate appearances in the majors, but he has some quality minor league seasons under his belt. Look for him to serve as organizational depth at the Triple-A level during his age-29 season.
