Bonifacio's contract was selected by the Phillies on Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Bonifacio landed a minor-league deal with the Phillies in late May, and he appeared in 71 games between the Double-A and Triple-A clubs. He slashed .273/.372/.546 with 15 home runs, 54 RBI, 49 runs and four stolen bases during that time, and he'll join the major-league roster after Mauricio Llovera was designated for assignment. Bonifacio is starting in center field and batting sixth in Friday's game against the Padres.
